Leisure Off-Road

A great way to explore the Galloway Forest Park and other spectacular off-road tracks. Our stunning scenery provides the perfect backdrop to get off the beaten track and visit areas of special interest including nature reserves, historic monuments or you can just to head out for a lovely picnic in the countryside. You have the space and the freedom in Galloway to ride from just a few hundred meters to hundreds of miles off road - the choice is yours.

Mountain Biking Trails

Mountain Bikers will love riding our natural and man made single-track trails as well as forest tracks including the world famous 7-Stanes Centres, Drumlanrig Castle and many other way marked routes. From easy flowing green and blue graded routes to the more demanding and challenging red routes, Galloway has something for all mountain bikers to enjoy. Galloway really is Mountain Biking Heaven.

Extreme Mountain Biking

Ideal for experienced riders who are out for a blast or a new challenge. Packages can include orange graded trails like the Omega Man at Ae forest, a downhill jump track, or even the full on Ae downhill with big drops and gaps including the Ae Stepdown. You can test your balance skills on the most technically demanding, hair-raising 2 kms of timber trail northshore in the UK at Mabie. And if you want to get away from trail centres we can help you plan freeriding opportunities and discover some natural downhill tracks.

Weekend / 2-Day Mountain biking break - MTB1

- two days of mountainbiking with 2 nights B&B accommodation arranged. Price: £115 p.p.

For a weekend or other two day mountainbiking break, you would arrive on Friday or other arrival day and stay the both nights in our 4 star Castle Douglas B&B, with swim spa.
Our service includes providing local knowledge on where to go for the type of mountain biking you prefer. We supply the new folding 7 Stanes trails maps.
You could travel to up to two mountain biking venue(s) each day by your own car and depart after your biking on the Sunday or second day.
At your B&B in Castle Douglas, we go over your itinerary and provide information and advice on other attractions - maybe for non-bikers in your party - in the area.
Should you wish bike hire, guiding or other mountain biking services during the weekend, we can also arrange.

Midweek Mountain Biking Break - MTB2

- A 4 day mountain biking break. Price: £195 p.p.

This mountain biking break lasts for 4 days with 4 nights B&B with our B&B in Castle Douglas with swim spa being ideally situated to visit different mountainbiking trails. 
As well as the 7 Stanes trails, the nearby Galloway Forest Park has numerous scenic forestry roads which we can devise an off road or easy family type mountain biking type break to suit your requirements.
We supply all the necessary information including maps and local information both for mountainbikers and any non mountain bikers in your party.

7-day Mountain Biking Break - MTB3

- use our tour design and arrangement skills to visit 5 mtb 7 Stanes trail centres and Drumlanrig Castle. A top quality mountain biking experience in one week. 
Price: £595 p.p.

*Can be done anytime but discounts for groups of between 4 and 6 booking for weeks starting
May 28; June 25; July 16; August 6; September 3; October 8.

 

This is a new mountain biking break for 2012. It includes 5 of the 7 Stanes mountain biking centres, Dalbeattie, Kirroughtree, Glentrool, Ae and Mabie as well as Drumlanrig Castle - i.e. 6 different days with a rest day or extra day built in as required.
We welcome you on arrival at our 4 star B&B with swim spa in Castle Douglas 'food town'.
You either bike between trail centres or we pick you up after breakfast and take you to the next location - along with your bags.
We can be flexible to design this tour to suit your requirements as it can be more rugged or can also detour on occasions to visit some small towns, villages and tourist features.

Cycling and Mountain Biking In One Tour - C/MTB1

- 6 day / 7 night family cycling break including mountain biking at two 7 Stanes venues. Price £495 p.p.

For the best of both world's, some cycling, mountainbiking and sightseeing, we have designed a 6 day activity tour break  to see the popular parts of our region and to incorporate at least a day at the two popular mountain 7 Stanes mountain biking centres at Dalbeattie and Kirroughtree Forests. It is ideal for families with all cycling days being under 20 miles with one 25 miles - unless otherwise requested.
Mountain bike hire is available at both Dalbeattie and Kirroughtree venues with the rest of your tour suggested on a hybrid bike - or you can bring your own bike.
Accommodation is arranged at different locations with luggage transfer included.
We meet you at our 4 star B&B in Castle Douglas with swim spa to go over your itinerary and provide information and advice on other family attractions you pass in the area, e.g. Cream o' Galloway ice cream and adventure farm and a chocolate factory!
Should you wish bike hire, guiding or other mountain biking services we can also arrange.
The price shown is per person for 2 adults sharing. Childrens prices are less and depend on accommodation costs.
