This is a 7 day cycling tour following a route to 'real places' mentioned in the Five Red Herrings novel written and set in Galloway. The towns of Kirkcudbright and Gatehouse of Fleet are heavily featured with several significant countryside locations which you can visit by bicycle.
THe Ship Inn, formerly The Anwoth, where Five Red Herrings was written In Gatehouse of Fleet, a National Scenic Area, the author Dorothy L. Sayers used to stay the summer months in the Anwoth Hotel, only recently re-named the Ship Inn, where she wrote much of the book. This is now an excellent quality hotel and would be an ideal location to stay during the tour.
So, as well as getting an interesting tour of Galloway by bicycle, you can follow this theme to provide an extra interest. Contact us to obtain more information on this tour.
